Subterranean Termites Control Singapore │ Baiting, Soil & Corrective Treatment │ Pestopia

Protect Your Property From Singapore's Most Destructive Termite Species

Subterranean termites live in colonies underground and need constant contact with soil or moisture to survive — this is what sets them apart from drywood termites, and why they call for a different treatment approach entirely. Pestopia is an NEA-licensed pest control provider, and every subterranean termite treatment we carry out uses NEA-approved products only.

Why subterranean termites are different

  • Need constant soil or moisture contact to survive
  • Build mud tubes to travel between soil and timber
  • Colony hidden underground, damage often unseen
  • Treated with soil, corrective or baiting methods

Identification

What Are Subterranean Termites?

Subterranean termites in Singapore live in colonies underground and travel to their food source — the timber, doors or skirting in your home — through shelter tubes built from soil and saliva. Because the colony itself stays hidden below ground or within wall cavities, an infestation is often well established by the time signs appear above ground. Catching these early warning signs is the fastest way to limit structural damage and get the right subterranean termite treatment started.

Termite Baiting Singapore

Baiting

For subterranean colonies, baiting works by giving worker termites a slow-acting bait they unknowingly carry back to the nest, where it's shared through the colony and gradually causes it to collapse — typically within 2 to 4 months, depending on the size of the colony. It's a low-disruption option that targets the colony at its source, not just the termites you can see.

Soil Treatment

Termite Soil Treatment

Soil treatment applies a non-repellent termiticide to the soil before or around construction, creating a continuous chemical barrier that subterranean termites can't detect and won't cross. Because it's undetectable, termites pick it up while tunnelling through and carry it back to the colony, rather than avoiding the treated area altogether.

This is typically the most effective option for landed homes and new builds where the structure has direct ground contact, giving long-term protection against future subterranean termite entry points.

Corrective Treatment

Termite Corrective Treatment

Corrective treatment is designed for buildings that weren't soil-treated during construction, or where an existing soil barrier has broken down over time. Our technicians drill small holes — typically 16 to 18mm — through slabs or along skirting at set intervals, then inject termiticide directly into the soil beneath and around the structure.

This rebuilds a continuous barrier around the affected area, cutting off the termites' access route back into the building and giving you a fresh line of defence without needing to rebuild the original treatment from scratch.

Anti-Termite Treatment

Not Infested Yet? Here's the Right Preventive Option

Every property is different, so the right anti-termite treatment in Singapore usually comes down to your property type, age and construction. Baiting, soil treatment and corrective treatment aren't competing options — they're tools we combine or choose between based on what will actually protect your specific property.

Frequently Asked Questions About Subterranean Termite Treatment

FAQs

Subterranean termites build mud tubes along foundations, walls and pillars because they need soil contact to survive, and they usually enter from below. Drywood termites don’t need soil contact at all — they nest directly inside dry timber such as furniture and door frames, so you won’t see mud tubes, but you may find small pellet-like droppings near the wood instead. If you’re unsure which species you’re dealing with, our technicians can confirm it during a free inspection.

It depends on the treatment method and the extent of the infestation. Soil and corrective treatments are usually completed within a day for most residential properties, while baiting programmes work gradually over several weeks as the colony carries bait back to the nest. Our technicians will give you a realistic timeline once they’ve assessed your property.

Soil treatment works best as a pre-construction barrier or for landed properties with direct ground contact, while baiting is often preferred where drilling isn’t practical or where you want ongoing colony-level elimination with minimal disruption. Many properties benefit from a combination. Our inspection will recommend the right fit for your situation.

Yes, our termite treatments come with a warranty period, and our dedicated baiting programme includes a 1-year warranty. Your technician will confirm the exact warranty terms that apply to the treatment method used on your property.

We only use NEA-approved termiticides and application methods designed to be safe for households once applied correctly. Our technicians will advise on any precautions, such as re-entry times, so your family and pets stay safe throughout the treatment.
